Meditation Room Setup Guide
Purpose
The meditation room is the heart of Sangha House — a space for stillness, clarity, and compassion. Setting it up is an act of care as well as a practice
Before the Sit
• Arrive 20 min early.
• Open windows briefly to refresh air.
• Sweep or tidy.
• Arrange cushions and chairs neatly.
• Light two candles and potala incense.
• Set the altar with flowers, water, or something beautiful.
• Adjust lighting and temperature.
• Test bell or timer.
During the Sit
• Welcome guests quietly.
• Offer a simple explanation for new attendees.
• Sit with the group if possible.
After the Sit
• Pause before moving.
• Extinguish candles/incense.
• Reset the room neatly.
• Wipe surfaces.
• Leave it feeling like a sanctuary.
